#WeAreArity Wednesday: Joy Thomas
When Mom asks me what it is that I do again, I say…
At Arity, I’m essentially the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer – which means I do whatever I can to make sure we get our work done as efficiently and effectively as possible. I love equipping Arity with the knowledge and tools needed to be strategically and operationally efficient, financially smart, and legally and ethically compliant.
In your own words, what is Arity?
Arity is an investment that Allstate is making in its future to to make sure its embracing disruption and playing a part in shaping the future.
My favorite mode of transportation is…
Driving my car – I love to drive.
On a Saturday afternoon, you can find me…
If it’s hockey season/school time (September – May), then I’m watching my kids play hockey or enjoying the Alabama and Oklahoma football rivalries; in the summer, you can find me at my lake house chilling with a good book or swimming and sunning!
As a professional harpist, I would be grateful to share my talents and skills with others who are passionate about music.
If you could volunteer for any cause, what would it be? Why?
Teach music to young kids because as a professional harpist, I would be grateful to share my talents and skills with others who are passionate about music.
Most people don’t know I…
Cry whenever I watch the movie Armageddon.
The theme song of my life is…
I have two:
- “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks. This is my group of friends theme song. We love enjoying time together and making memories.
- “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw. Balancing work and life is really important to me – I never want to look back and think “I should’ve done that.”
Talk to your rideshare driver or silent ride?
Talk – I ask them why they do it and about their experiences.
Would you get in a self-driving car? Why or why not?
Get in yes. Buy one? Probably not.
Favorite innovation pioneer?
Thomas Edison – perseverance is key.
