#WeAreArity Wednesday: Kelly Adolfo
When Mom asks me what it is that I do again, I say…
My main focus at Arity is to identify compliance obligations or other requirements that impact the business and find ways to ensure we are living into those requirements while still creating products that provide value to our partners and customers. I work across teams at Arity to continually improve upon the way we protect the privacy of our data, which is something Arity takes very seriously!
In your own words, what is Arity?
Arity is a data analytics and insights company. We are able to take in large quantities of data and assist customers with making sense of it all.
My favorite mode of transportation is…
Walking, if my destination is close enough. When the weather is nice, I enjoy the mile walk from the train to the Merchandise Mart in the morning. It’s makes for a great start to the work day!
On a Saturday afternoon, you can find me…
Likely spending time with family, grilling outdoors or gardening while the kids and dog run around the backyard and hopefully sneaking in a nap (I am 8 months pregnant, after all!) We are trying to take advantage of the good weather and be outdoors (zoo, park, farmer’s markets) as much as possible.
If you could volunteer for any cause, what would it be? Why?
I gravitate towards charities that are focused on the well-being of children. There’s nothing better than knowing you have made a positive impact in a child’s life. I volunteered as a candy-striper at a children’s hospital while I was in high school and it was one of the most impactful experiences of my life.
Most people don’t know I…
Am a vegetarian and have been since I was 10 years old. I have always had a soft-spot for animals, so once I found out what meat was made of, I refused to eat it. Although, it took me a couple years to convince my mom that I was serious about being a vegetarian. I think she believes me now, lol.
The theme song of my life is…
I don’t know if it is necessarily a theme song, but I do love “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young. It reminds me to appreciate the here and now.
Talk to your rideshare driver or silent ride?
Talk, for sure. I love having the opportunity to meet people who I would likely never cross paths with otherwise.
Would you get in a self-driving car? Why or why not?
Yes! When working at a technology company, it is important to embrace change. Plus, I would support anything that reduces the number of distracted drivers on our roads.
Favorite innovation pioneer?
Marie Curie — She was a bad-ass feminist, if I am allowed to say so! She followed her passion and overcame a lot of adversity to prove herself.
