#WeAreArity Wednesday: Chase Davis
When my friend asks me what it is that I do again, I say…
At Arity, I am a Sales Engineer. I help explain our technical solutions on our sales calls and help create solutions for our prospects.
In your own words, what is Arity?
At its core, Arity is a data company disguised as a telematics company. Through offering our customers premium end-user engagement offerings, we are able to collect, analysis, and create actionable insights on enormous amounts of data.
What is your work for home set up like?
For my work from home setup I use my laptop plus two monitors. In addition, I have several phones for testing and demoing products for our prospects. For comfort, I choose the standing desk adapter from the Allstate WFH program. When I am not on meetings, I leverage my Alexa speaker to play Spotify for background noise. Lastly, I strategically placed my desk with a view out of my window for the moments when I need to take a break from staring at all my screens.
We all commuted into the office prior to COVID, how are you spending the extra time?
Due to my position on the Sales Engineering team, I have always been remote. However, Pre-COVID I was traveling quite a bit for prospect meetings, conferences, and onsite meetings. Though I miss business travel and I can’t wait to start again, I have been using the extra time to make memories as a newlywed with my wife.
Most people don’t know …
That I am a diehard fan of Pepsi! This may not be a big deal up North, but down here in Texas everyone is all about Coke and Dr. Pepper. Sure, I still enjoy both of those, but nothing will ever top Pepsi in my mind.
Though I strongly believe Pepsi has superior taste, in short, my love for Pepsi stems from my childhood memories when my brothers and I stayed over at my grandparent’s house. We had no limit to how much Pepsi we were allowed to drink and then we stayed up way past our normal bedtimes.
The theme song of my life is…
“Brother” by NEEDTOBREATHE – this life is hard, and we need each other. I want to be someone that people can come to for help when they feel alone. This song also hits home because it came out of an argument with two brothers in the band. They overcame their differences, and this song was born. I have two older brothers myself and my relationship with them is very important to me.
Would you get in a self-driving car? Why or why not?
Absolutely! I would for a couple reasons. For starters, I love technology. At the moment, I really want a Tesla Cybertruck for similar reasons. So, I would use a self-driving car purely out of curiosity and appreciation for technology. Eventually, once I feel comfortable and the technology has progressed passed the need for human monitoring or intervention, I would love the extra time to get stuff done or work in some extra nap time.
Favorite innovation pioneer?
My favorite innovation pioneer is Steve Jobs. Unfortunately, he was taken from us too soon due to cancer. Within my love for technology there will always be a special place for Apple. Steve Jobs not only understood the power of technology and innovative thinking, but he also knew how to optimize the overall experience for the user. From simple things like shipping devices already charged so customers could use it immediately, to understanding that customers will be loyal if you make their lives easier with things like iCloud and seamless cross-product functionality. It was my original love for the iPhone that made me want to be a mobile developer – but now I help sell code, instead of write it.
